Sorry for the wait! The new build is finally ready for you.
To see a list of everything that was added / changed / fixed / improved in the latest update, please scroll down past this yandere-themed parody of “Not Cute Anymore” by a Korean girl group named ILLIT!
In this build, I primarily focused on adding new voice lines, adding new animations, improving events, and making some adjustments to the Bake Sale that I’ve wanted to make for a long time. I’m not done improving the Bake Sale, but in this build, I made *most* of the changes I wanted to make.
Saki, Seiyo, Kenko, and Ajia now behave differently at the Bake Sale:
When no students are present, they will talk amongst themselves.
When a student shows up, the they turn to face the student with an excited “Oh, are you gonna buy something?!” pose.
When the student buys food, they will do a celebratory animation.
When the student eats their food, they will watch the student eat their food happily.
Afterwards, if the student gets sick from the food, they will perform a concerned/confused animation.
Previously, if the Bake Sale food was making students barf, Amai would keep the Bake Sale open all day. This was kinda illogical. So, from now on, if Amai realizes that her food has been making people barf, she will close the Bake Sale for the rest of the day, starting at 8:00 AM. Afterwards, at lunchtime, the Cooking Club will gather around the Bake Sale table and try to figure out what went wrong, rather than continuing to operate a Bake Sale that they know is making people barf.
Some of these animations may be tweaked slightly in the future, but, as they are now, they are roughly representative of my mental image for the bake sale.
A lot of people felt that much of Senpai’s dialogue during Amai’s week seemed too harsh. I think that one of the main reasons for this is the fact that his dialogue was not voiced, so you couldn’t hear the tone of voice that I intended for him to speak in. (Say “Gee, thanks!” in an appreciative voice, and then say “Gee, thanks…” in a sarcastic voice. Tone is responsible for, like, 90% of how words are interpreted).
Regardless, I still decided to re-write nearly all of Senpai’s dialogue for Amai’s week, and even change the locations of some events, as well. As new voice lines and animations come in, you’ll start to see Senpai’s dialogue transform.
The first event to get this treatment is the sabotaged variant of Amai’s Monday Lunchtime event. The event now takes place at Amai’s bake sale table, instead of on the school rooftop. The original premise of the event was, “Senpai decides to not visit Amai’s bake sale because he’s heard rumors that her food is making people puke.” However, I decided to change that premise to, “Senpai shows up at Amai’s bake sale despite the rumors, and Amai has to shamefully admit to Senpai that he shouldn’t eat her food.” I think that this new premise makes Senpai seem like a guy who keeps his promises to you no matter what rumors he hears about you, rather than a guy who just silently ghosts you when he hears bad things about your food.
Another event also got voice lines in the latest update: Amai’s “greeting her club after returning from her absence” cutscene. Amai, Shoku, Kenko, Seiyo, Ajia, and Saki all have voice lines now! With 6 talking characters, this event involves more characters talking than any other event in the game!
In addition to those two events, here’s a list of all of the other parts of the game that got new voice lines in this update:
It is now possible to activate a free-flying debug camera by entering the Debug Menu and then pressing the “C” key. Press the “Q” key (or the B button if you’re on controller) to return to normal gameplay.
In my opinion, this makes it easy to get some pretty cool camera shots that previously weren’t possible!
Maybe this’ll come in handy for Yandere Simulator content creators!
I apologize if this update was underwhelming, and didn’t live up to your expectations. In my annual Patreon Transparency Post, which will be posted in January, I plan to be brutally honest about some of the factors that have been reducing the game’s development speed – not just recently, but over the past 5 years or so.
