Osana’s ancient hair model has been replaced with a new hair model! This is how her hair has looked for the past few years:
…and this is what it looks like now:
I think it’s a big improvement!
Notes:
Certain cutscenes, such as the intro cutscene, still feature the old hair model. This is because I am waiting to see if there are any bugs with the new hair model before I commit to spreading it all over the game.
Her “sidelocks” (the long locks of hair beside her face) now have physics. (Her ribbon does, too, although it’s subtle.)
Her “short hair” model has also been updated.
I also have a new “low pigtails” variation of her “short hair” model, which may be used at some point in the future. (Perhaps after a few weeks have passed and her hair has begun to grow out again?)
Saturation
Someone pointed out that Yandere Simulator’s graphics seem weirdly desaturated and “washed out.” I’ve been staring at Yandere Simulator for so long that the game simply looked “normal” to me…but, after messing around with the saturation settings, I feel like it really does look a lot better if I increase the saturation!
So, in this build…instead of looking like this:
Yandere Simulator now looks like this:
If people complain and say “Ew looks gross!” I’ll change it back. But, if nobody dislikes it, I think it’ll remain this way!
Improvements
Under the previous “socializing with a student” system, a student’s response to a compliment would depend on both their Persona and player’s reputation; there were a total of 54 different lines of dialogue for a student’s response for a compliment. However, when I implemented the new “socializing” feature, this giant array of reputation-dependent responses disappeared, and students only responded to your compliments with a single generic response. I fixed this; the 54 Persona-and-Reputation-specific responses are now back!
Re-wrote Ajia’s profile and also the text that appears for her in the “Death Demon” easter egg to establish her as a character who is concerned about foreign influence on Japan gradually erasing Japan’s cultural identity, rather a character who supports nationalism or imperialism or Japan’s actions during WW2.
From now on, if you approach a workbench with the materials necessary to craft a bodybag – while on a save file where you’ve selected “don’t need to craft bodybags” as a difficulty option – you’ll receive a notification at the top of the screen reminding you that you don’t need to craft bodybags.
Updated the eyes of Dozuki’s character model. (I know that her face is barely visible in the current build, but in future weeks, she might appear in different places around the house, where her eyes would be much more visible.)
Senpai now carries a plate of sandwiches to Amai’s picnic event, his sandwiches appear at the picnic, and the picnic food disappears once the picnic event is over.
Adjusted Yaku’s likes and dislikes to be more consistent with the text written about him on the official website, and also his behavior and dialogue in-game.
If a character is “Sent Home” (receives an alarming text message that causes them to run out of school) they will now ignore being splashed with liquid.
Characters will now refuse to perform the “Distract” favor if the student they have been asked to Distract is currently inside of a shower building.
Increased the volume of some of Info-chan’s “initial conversation with Ayano” voice lines.
Adjusted Ichirou’s birth year in the timeline segment of the “True Ending” cutscene.
Increased the volume of some of Info-chan’s Mission Mode voice lines.
Gave the Yakuza a new “leaning against wall” animation.
Replaced the Yakuza’s character model.
Otohiko now has hair physics.
By The Way
If you’re thinking “Now that Info-chan’s voice lines are louder, Ayano’s sound too quiet by comparison!” or, “Info-chan’s voice lines got TOO loud!” just wait until the next build; It’ll be fixed.
Fixes
If the player asked any student to distract Gema Taku or Shinako Bunzai before completing that student’s task, the student would react negatively and refuse to do so. This bug has been fixed. (However, there is an exception – the bullies will refuse to distract Gema before he has changed his appearance. After he has changed his appearance, they will agree to distract him.)
If Amai, Taro, and the gym teacher simultaneously witnessed Ayano commit murder before she had walked through the school gate, Ayano would enter this weird state where she was reacting to Senpai as if he was giving her a game over, while being apprehended by the gym teacher. This bug has been fixed.
In the “Kokona invites Ayano to help the Drama Club rehearse a school play” cutscene, the colors of the interior of the Drama Club were wrong, and props that should have been visible weren’t visible. Also, Kokona’s club accessory was missing. These oversights have been corrected.
If a student took a photo of the player committing murder and then attacked the player, the student would not drop their smartphone upon death, making it impossible for the player to destroy all evidence that they had committed a crime. This bug has been fixed.
In the Kokona Tutorial, if the player used up the car battery in the electrocution tutorial without successfully killing Kokona, the car battery would never be repaired, making it impossible to ever finish the electrocution tutorial. This bug has been fixed.
If the player used the “Life Note” easter egg to electrocute Raibaru during a scripted event, Raibaru would not enter the electrocution animation, but everyone around her would react to her as if she was dying of electrocution. This bug has been fixed.
Only on Sundays (when Ryoba can walk around her house in her pajamas) it was possible for Ryoba to interact with button prompts inside of Ayano’s room that shouldn’t have been accessible, and teleport inside of Ayano’s room. This bug has been fixed.
If the player left a note in Raibaru’s locker to arrange a 3:30 PM meeting with her on Monday, Raibaru would enter her 3:30 PM event with Osana and her 3:30 meeting with you simultaneously, leading to weird behavior. This bug has been fixed.
If the player spoke to the guidance counselor while interacting at Amai’s Bake Sale, Amai and that student (and all other students who subsequently showed up at the bake sale) would freeze. This bug has been fixed.
If the player got pushed by a delinquent while cleaning a weapon at a sink, the player would get stuck in the “cleaning weapon” and “fighting delinquent” states simultaneously. This bug has been fixed.
If the player attempted to set the game’s resolution larger than their computer monitor, the player could encounter an error when attempting to re-launch the game. This should no longer be possible.
A Cooking Club student who decided to go home instead of attending club activities would enter the Cooking Club and then walk in place indefinitely. This bug has been fixed.
In the “Alternate Timeline / Happy Ending Timeline,” if Ryoba made bodybags immediately after making a stink bomb, the game would softlock. This bug has been fixed.
At some point in the past, the scrolling background in the Yakuza menu disappeared! I have no idea how I didn’t notice this until now! This oversight has been corrected.
If the player pushed over a bookcase, the protagonist would lose sanity even if the bookcase didn’t actually kill anyone. This oversight has been corrected.
Years ago, I updated the school plaza with new props, but never updated the title screen to reflect the new props. This oversight has been corrected.
When the school environment was updated, some of the props in the guidance counselor’s office disappeared. This oversight has been corrected.
If the player killed Raibaru, all students in the school would stop offering a task to the player. This bug has been fixed.
The bookshelves in the Rival Bakery environment were using the wrong meshes + textures. This oversight has been corrected.
When Ryoba spoke to the Yakuza, the game’s depth-of-field effect would not re-focus properly. This bug has been fixed.
I said “I restored Pippi’s original socks” but her socks didn’t actually change. They should actually be correct now.
Attempted to fix a rare bug that would cause the game to open with a resolution of 0x0 and never become resizable.
A carpet in the Stalker House environment was using the wrong texture. This oversight has been corrected.
Amai’s reputation will now drop whenever a student eats poisoned food from her bake sale.
Amai’s hair texture was not displaying properly on her hair. This has been fixed.

Bottom-of-the-Blog-Post Fan Spotlight
A long time ago, I had an idea. First, I would implement four easter eggs that were each dedicated to a specific element – Tornado Mode, Flame Demon Mode, Ice Fairy Cirno Mode, and an unreleased easter egg mode where the player would attack students with thorny vines. Then, I planned to add a sort of “Ultimate Mode” where the player could use all of the powers of the four element-themed easter eggs.
In the end, I decided to de-prioritize easter eggs and focus more on the core game, so that concept never came to fruition. However, recently, a fan of the game created a “Weather Goddess” mod that is remarkably similar to that ancient concept I had! It’s very cool! Take a look!
What’s Next?
Over the summer, I was fortunate enough to become acquainted with several very talented voice actors who have recorded a lot of voice lines for the game – both male and female!
A great deal of my time over the summer was spent reviewing their lines, giving them feedback, and “coaching” them to become able to produce the exact voices that I imagine for the characters. It’s a very time-consuming process, but if it results in a fully-voice cast of characters, the investment will be well worth it!
At this point in time, I hesitate to say, “Hey, great news everyone! This character officially has a new voice actor!” …because, in my mind, nothing is “final” until I’ve put all the new voice lines in-game, and I’m 100% satisfied with how everything sounds.
Over the next 2 weeks, my priority will be to add the voice lines I’m already satisfied with, and work together with the voice actors to improve the voice lines that I’m not yet satisfied with. By the 15th, I think I should probably be able to tell you which of these new voice actors are here to stay or not. Exciting stuff!
Thank you for following the development of Yandere Simulator!
