You downloaded the build. The launcher finished. Akademi’s gates are open. Now what?
Yandere Simulator pretends to be a school-life game for a few minutes, then it asks you to manage Obsession, timing, and enrollment at once. This guide is the first-week kit most new runs skip: schedule rhythm, Reputation, Sanity, Yandere Vision, and a calm opening that does not end before Rival Week 1.
Content note: The game includes mature themes and violence. It is intended for adult audiences. This guide focuses on systems and strategy, not graphic how-tos.
You play as Ayano Aishi. She feels almost nothing until Senpai appears. In 202X Mode, ten rivals approach him across ten weeks. Your job each week: remove the romantic threat and still look like a normal student when the day ends.
A week is “done” when the current rival is no longer a romantic threat and you are still enrolled — not arrested, not expelled, not so socially tanked that the school shuts you out. Quieter social paths (matchmaking, framing, expulsion schemes) and louder lethal paths both exist. On recent 2026 builds, players who open with the loudest option usually lose to Reputation, witnesses, or a Sanity spiral before the scheme pays off.
If you have not installed yet, use the Download page and the Windows install guide.
Two minutes of setup prevents most “the game is broken” first sessions.
Keep the FAQ 2026 open for modes, Mac/Linux, mods, and fake mobile apps.
Play the day as periods, not free-roam chaos:
Habit one: complete a full school day without committing a crime. Walk bathroom loops, club rooms, and teacher patrol paths. Watch how fast students react when something nearby feels “off.” The map is the tutorial Osana will grade you on later. Treat Akademi like an empty stage and Rival Week 1 will punish you for it.
Osana is loud and well-guarded. Do not open her full strategy on day one. Build map literacy first so her week is a schedule problem, not a jump scare. Character context lives on the Osana Najimi and Ayano Aishi pages when you want it.

Reputation is social HP. High Reputation opens favors, trust, and softer schemes. Low Reputation makes students wary, rude, or hostile. Drop far enough and you get expelled — a hard game over that usually telegraphed itself for days while you ignored the meter.
Rule: do not spend Reputation you have not earned. Help students, join cover-safe activities, and keep public weirdness off the schedule until you know what a hit costs.
Violent or extreme acts drain Sanity. Low Sanity changes Ayano’s look and makes lethal acts longer, louder, and harder to hide — NPCs notice. Restore Sanity in private (laughing alone, Senpai-focused recovery options in your build) before you re-enter a crowded hallway looking like a walking red flag.
Rule: if the plan only works at zero Sanity, park it until after week one.
Hold Vision to highlight rivals, persons of interest, and useful objects through walls. Use it as a planning tool: Where is the target? Who owns this hallway? What object matters today?
Rule: pulse Vision before you commit, the same way you check corners in any stealth game. Skipping it is how beginners walk into witnesses they never mapped.

Default opening run:
Days 1–2 — Cartographer mode. Walk on schedule. Mark bathrooms, rooftop access, club rooms, and teacher sightlines. Pulse Vision at hallway corners. Talk enough to learn dialogue cadence. No crime scene yet.
Days 3–4 — Social warm-up. Raise Reputation with low-risk helpfulness. Learn who hangs with whom. Flag students who might matter later for favors or info. If your build surfaces early Info-Chan style tips, treat them as briefings, not flavor text.
Days 5–7 — Soft experimentation. Run one non-permanent chain: follow a student, distract a group, time how long a hallway stays empty. Save (or accept a restart) before anything irreversible. You are learning cause and effect, not clearing a rival in one afternoon.
If a scheme needs more witnesses than you can name, abort. A cleaner method on a later day beats a panic spiral today.
When a clean first week feels automatic:

Watch the schedule, wait for clean windows, and spend Reputation like a limited resource. After one clean week, Akademi’s day stops feeling random — it reads like a clock you can plan against.
